This month was full of events and activities. I will highlight some of them here.
December always begins with a very special day - my birthday! Even though they aren't as exciting the older I get, my students made me feel important. To show you how lovely they are, here is a video of them singing to me and at the end, you will see the cake the room mother brought in for me.
The next big event of December was the Christmas play. This year our school put on an adaptation of Max Lucado's book, "Cosmic Christmas". It's kind of like a behind the scenes look at the story of Christ's birth from the perspective of the angel, Gabriel. On our way to rehearsals, my students sang their song for me.
Here are some pictures of the students getting ready before the show. All of the elementary and middle schoolers were a part of the show, either by singing, acting or playing an instrument. High schoolers auditioned for and played the bigger roles.
This is me with one of my 6th graders. I helped them put on their stage make-up. The boys and even a lot of the girls were not happy they had to wear make-up!
These next two pictures are of the 7th graders and their costumes. They were villagers.
This was the largest venue we have held our Christmas program in, so it was a little overwhelming at first. All of the seats were needed since our school community has grown so much. There were a few glitches here and there, but overall the performance went very well.
The next night was Christmas Club for WyldLife (ministry outreach for middle schoolers I volunteer with). The pictures help explain better than I can describe it, so check them out here.
In the game above, the kids had to lick pieces of candy cane and stick as many as they could to their teammate's face. The other picture is of some ICS boys. The game below shows the students wrapping a team member in wrapping paper. At the end of the night, all the leaders surprised the kids by spraying the fake snow into the air to give the illusion of winter in the 85 degree weather. It was a blast!
My roommates and I invited our friends over to decorate Christmas cookies. Our house was decorated for Christmas, we had hot chocolate brewing and a candle that smelled like Christmas burning. Here is one of mine, I called her "Hawaiian Angel". Here is one of our counters full of finished cookies.
The next weekend, my friends and I celebrated my birthday and my friend Erin's birthday by going ice skating, to dinner at Esmirada's (Greek), and then walking downtown to Orchard Road (the big shopping area) to see all the Christmas lights. We even saw snow!! I don't have any pictures of ice skating...but I have some of the rest of the evening.

Our friends who came to celebrate with us. At this restaurant, they come out once a night to this fun Greek music and smash plates! They even let the customers do it. It is loads of fun. The next video shows the waiters coming out to do their dance and then my friends and I breaking plates. I apologize for the horrible quality. The video is really dark and really shaky.
