Macau and Hong Kong - 1

I attended a conference for christian teachers at international schools that was held in Hong Kong. Most of the teachers were from schools around Asia. It was a great conference and very refreshing. There were about 30 people from my school that went and some of us went to Macau for a day on the way there.

Our hotel, haha :) Taipa was the area of Macau we stayed in.
















Macau is pretty much full of hotels and casinos now, but it used to be a booming trading port. So, many countries have influenced the small island country and its architecture.

The small church outside of the graveyard, established by the East India Trade Company in 1814. Many ex-patriots are buried here, including the first missionary to China, Robert Morrison. He translated the Bible into Chinese. He wasn't allowed into the mainland and so stayed in Macau during his mission work. The other picture is J. Hudson Taylor's father-in-law, Samuel Dyer. It was actually quite beautiful, for a cemetery.





















































































LeBron James was like the spokesman for Nike basketball. There were pictures of him everywhere in both Macau and Hong Kong! The third picture is on the side of a building that rivals the one of LeBron that is downtown Cleveland.
